OirthirSAT

Overview

Winning the £600,000 award in the LaunchUK Nanosat Design Competition in 2022, the OirthirSAT project spun off from GU Orbit and is now under new management. OirthirSAT will monitor the UK’s coastlines, using on-board processing to reduce down-link bandwidth, which then can be used by data scientists to monitor the UK’s coastal degradation – our receding coastline.

GU Orbit and OirthirSAT still keep in close relations, with some GU Orbit members dedicating time to help the OirthirSAT project each year. To read more about the OirthirSAT mission, please see their website.
